For a small town, Shreveport aquarium made quite the impression. From the warm and friendly greeting we had upon entering, to the staff attending to the stingray touch tank, everyone we encountered was engaging and informative.
The aquarium really embraced the season with the Christmas decorations. They were strategically placed and didn’t detract from the exhibits.
I was amazed that such a small aquarium had paddlefish! The jellyfish exhibit and stingray tank were a highlight, but the Axolotls topped them all. They were so cool! Lots of merchandise in the gift shop that featured the cool looking amphibian, too. Again, it is s small aquarium so don’t expect to see every single aquatic creature, but they covered enough to entertain us to a few hours.
My only complaint was regarding the parking lot. Free parking garage across the street was convenient, but it is barely kept. It rained when we visited and successfully disguised a pothole that seemed to be 10 feet deep. I thought I lost an axle the way my car dropped into it. They need to look into repaving the area.
